Artsy Shark is pleased to present the work of Italian artist Francesca Tesoriere, who licenses her illustration work. See more from this talented artist on her website.
As a freelance Illustrator, I have been producing artwork for book publishers, such as children’s books and text books as well as for advertising agencies and studios for about ten years.
I graduated with a degree in architecture and then decided to continue my studies with a course in illustration in Rome (Istituto Europeo di Design) through which I have finally taken my first steps into the world of illustration.
I love to combine traditional techniques of illustration with digital composition. I actually also work in gift and greeting card design as I’m very interested in growing my activity in the Art Licensing field.
From the beginning I experienced the art of illustrating with the same spirit that the first illustrators must have had—just like those who, whether they are a painter or sculptor, are dedicated to this discipline more as an artisan than as an artist.
I feel that my work is closer to graphic design with its design rigor and the necessity of dialogue with the client than to painting. Sometimes a mix, not only of styles, but also of the kinds of processes between the different branches of visual design, pushes me to visualize not only the drawing, but also the graphic layout up to the printed product.
I love mixing traditional techniques with digital composition. My love of nature and the outdoor life leads me to choose natural colours and themes in which sunlight is present.
My works so far have almost always come from some concrete opportunity for collaboration, or a need on the part of my customers.
Seeing my graphic art applied to finished products reinforces my idea that my illustrations (or the design that flows from them), can and should have a popular diffusion.
My designs and cards are available on my website as well as on Greeting Card Universe as well as Society6 and Buy Wall Art Online.
