Inspiration has come from the most unlikely places—from a desire to capture the simplicity of a still life grouping, to expressing my personal response to global crises.

A scene of a beautiful woman backlit by the Florentine sun demands to be painted in my photorealist style, whereas the debris and destruction of war requires the more tactile three-dimensionality of clay. I refuse to be constrained to one medium or another.

Several years ago, I created large, multi-media installations that required all my energy and focus. Over the past year, however, family concerns have crowded into my life, leaving little room for such ambitious projects.

But create I must. I began painting miniatures and discovered a whole new world. I derived as much joy creating self-contained worlds that fit into a 4” x 4” panel as I did assembling room-sized installations.

When a viewer genuinely connects with my art, be it on an intimate or an immersive scale, I feel tremendously fulfilled and uplifted.

Every artist knows that feeling; it’s the high we all strive for. This may be the motivation behind my relatively recent desire to make my art accessible to a larger commercial audience, all the while maintaining my signature balance between concept and aesthetics.
