Billy Tackett’s splatter art is fluid, energized and highly textured, yet captures the essence of the subjects he paints.
My goals are to continue developing my highly textured, hand splattered art while honing the technique and pushing the boundaries of my medium. By dipping my fingers directly into the paint and flicking it onto the canvas, I’m able to capture my desired image without the use of brushes. This gives my art a fluid and organic quality that viewers find intriguing.
There is so much potential for this particular application and I intend to continue exploring and evolving with it as much as possible.
While I exhibit in museums and galleries now, I’d love to expand and continue showing my work in order to reach a broader audience both nationally and internationally. I’m always looking for new ways to connect and inspire a love of art. My live art demonstrations are simply one outlet that allows me to do just that!
I focus primarily on portraits with a bit of whimsy thrown in.
Due to the amount of private commissions I paint, my subject matter tends to be fairly diverse. While I continue exploring new techniques and my work still resonates with my love of pop culture, you’ll find it now sprinkled with mostly fine art creations.
These have allowed me to spread my wings and experiment with more architecture and still lifes…things I probably would have never painted prior. And for that I am grateful.
Life, both past and present, inspires me.
I find that I often choose the portraits, color palettes, and images that I enjoyed from my childhood (now referred to as pop culture) as inspiration in order to symbolize and celebrate diversity within our arts community and society as a whole.
They often have high energy, intense texture, and tend to resonate with people of all ages.
