I like to convey a sense of a blissful world, one that is inclusive of nature and both joyful and quirky. Spirituality, nature, architecture and the universe inspire me. I’m also slightly addicted to surface patterns.
Driven by travels. An arrangement of photographs to preserve the memory—the sense of being in said place. A montage, to enhance and distort and embellish, as we do with our memories over time.
As an observer, I like to capture the message of my subject. As a creator, I like to engage the senses with the many details I see around me.
I desire to create art that feels unbridled and free. My alcohol ink art captures energy, movement, and flow, and celebrates my natural curiosity through the layering and blending of many beautiful colors of alcohol ink.
My artwork is inspired by travel and journeys around the world. I create my designs, which are expressive in style with bright colours and bold black lines, using acrylics, oils, ink, watercolour, photographs and textiles.
I capture the eternal aura of the natural world using acrylic paint. Creating art is a mystical process whereby I attempt to discover the underlying interconnected, yet immaterial, essence of the universe.
My paintings border on the edge of abstraction and representation. Each painting evolves from a combination of color studies, memory and invention. The objective is a compelling image where color is the soul of the painting.
Making art becomes meditation when creativity takes over your mind in constant search of personal satisfaction. The process is exciting and fulfilling. It is fun to erase everything I have been exposed to in order to allow my inspiration and spontaneity to create art.
I’m an Australian artist who paints hyper realistic flowers, spreading the message of love, beauty and sensuality with my paintings. Several layers of glazing were used to achieve the desired transparency and add a radiance of happiness.
I just love creating and modern abstract is my favorite style. Letting loose, expressing my emotions and capturing my inspirations makes me feel fulfilled on many levels.
“Temecula” was inspired by my travels in the California countryside. It is a combination of geometric abstraction and mechanical drawing. Each piece is drawn by hand using various art tools.
I see the beauty in ripped edges, accidental marks and worn surfaces. I am inspired by foreign lands, harbors and urban docklands. Collage is the idea—it is liberating and leads me in new directions.
It’s a balance between reaching out and touching what I can with my eyes and brain versus what can be translated to a brush and canvas. It’s a never boring, perpetually challenging quest.
The play of tools and materials drives the evolution of my process. I attempt to explore more from the subconscious without a planned result, attempting a “letting go” and painting in an intuitive manner.
My paintings are visual narratives, concerned with issues of identity and social change. Using the figure as a vehicle for painting a state of mind, I question ideas about gender, race and beauty.
An engineer, trained as a draftsman…there is the desire to experiment with many types of media (paintings, wood construct sculpture, computer) and express the emotional and the unpredictable in a composition of art.
My pieces are based on monumental situations—visions that reflect a sensation. I use charcoal to layer images, causing the viewer’s mind to become part of the art. The layers allow my audience to find/keep what lies true with them.
I’m drawn to the human element—my work portrays human society. Executed with a broad use of color, my paintings consist of figurative representation intertwined with abstract concepts, which free the viewer from the monotony and predictability of a too real vision.
This was painted in Aveiro, Portugal. Known for its title “Venice of Portugal,” I wanted to capture the energy of the old buildings and make them the focal point. The tourists were part of the story too.
I am a portrait painter and medical doctor. My inspiration comes from my patients who have endured tremendous hardship. The challenge was to portray each one of them accurately to honor their spirit and strength.
My colored pencil drawings are inspired by nature. I rearrange the elements, adding flowers or leaves, changing sizes, colors and proportions in order to create an emotional connection with the viewer.
My paintings not only depict a specific landscape, but my own experience within it. Through laying down blocks of color, I slowly transform the real image into a painting of my personal connection to nature.
My work expresses my passion for painting—the joy of color, color placement and relationships as well as light—light effects, reflection, introspection, forms, patterns and textures. Inspiration comes from the endless beauty of the natural world.
I’m drawn to anything with bold colors, bold personalities, or the casual, carefree spirit. Through the medium of acrylics, I aim to capture the energy of these moments in small, intimate frames.
Carving into the previous layers of oil and cold wax mixture is like excavating for gold. What of value is there? The mystery of what is hidden—priceless.
A deserted urban street recedes into the background under an overcast sky, evoking mystery. Color was isolated in small areas against an otherwise neutral palette.
“A World of Lights” is a series created utilizing various luminous objects that I find on the streets, camera movement and long exposure techniques without further post-production manipulation.
It gives me joy to take common items and create a painting that comes alive with bright colors and bold brush strokes. My oil paintings are done in the old traditional Dutch style.
I saw this image as I was walking by the Fraser River. There was a steel wall that reflected light, and on the wall I saw an image of a city. I took a photo and wanted to paint what I saw, so I spent days digitally painting what I imagined it to be.
Inspired by the famous scenes of sea and land in Poole, Dorset, I work to capture a combination of representational expressionism exploring the development of the vibrant palette provided by the ever changing natural light.
