I was born in the warm seaside climate of southern Italy, and grew up in a family of artists that hailed from the soft rolling hills of Tuscany. During my childhood we moved to Madrid, Spain, and finally relocated to the foothills of the majestic Dolomite mountains in Trento, Italy. After I married, I moved to Switzerland, and most recently to the Washington DC area with my husband and two children.
My passion for all things artistic started when I was first able to hold a pencil. I was constantly drawing on notebooks, scrap paper, floors, walls, school desks and school newspapers.
My early encounters with classic art in Florence, Rome and Venice, and with contemporary sculptors and artists in my everyday life inspired me to perfect my skills. By attending an art school in northern Italy, my love and technical appreciation for art deepened further.
In my adult years, my travels throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas have given me greater insights and multicultural experiences as well as exposure to vivid colors, textures, and emotions that I am able to transfer onto canvas.
I enjoy experimenting with new techniques to create new methods, like my oil on double canvas, and serti-batik on silk. I enjoy multiple art disciplines and genres, from hyperrealism to abstract art.
With my work, I attempt to capture significant moments in time, locations, expressions, bodies in motion, feelings and human nature.
My art also reflects natural elements that surround our everyday lives.
I am constantly experimenting with new and varied techniques to create unique depictions of my experiences without limiting my research to prevailing or commonly accepted methodologies. My finished double canvas pieces, for example, represent years of artistic exploration that have matured into this new technique.
Through my three-dimensional canvases, my goal is to lead the viewer towards the discovery of a personal and deeper understanding of things that are often ordinary, yet so profound and significant to our lives and well-being. Some of my pieces include a pinch of irony and provocation.
I have had the privilege of exhibiting my art at various venues in Italy, Switzerland, New York City, Washington, DC and the Northern Virginia area, where my pieces have also been recognized through various awards.
