I paint from my studio in East Fremantle which is a small port city on the west coast of Australia. You’ll find me there most days under the careful supervision of my studio manager cat, Bonkers. I paint Impressionist landscapes with a fantasy element.
I love holidays and I’m interested in holiday places. These are the destinations where people shed the numbness of routine and become aware of the beauty and drama around them.
I’m trying to celebrate that heightened awareness and how fresh life feels when you are away from home.
I produce highly textured oil paintings which are layered and carved. I enjoy adding these extra dimensions to the painting surface.
There are moments when I feel like I am equal parts painter and sculptor.
I was still a young teenager when I decided to become an artist. After a traditional art school training, I’ve enjoyed a successful career as a landscape painter. I’m married to a talented writer, and we have two adult children. They are the brightest stars in our night sky.
A few years ago I decided to embark on a period of intense experimentation with my art. My style evolved into what you see now.
I feel excitement every day as I approach a new canvas. I give myself permission to play and explore new ideas. I notice my own resistance to change and I make a commitment to what is new and possible. I let curiosity be my guide. I hope you can feel that freedom coming through in my work.
Becoming an older artist presents you with a choice. Stay with what you know or go off on a grand adventure.
This art is my adventure. I’m taking you with me. Together we’ll go to the places full of majesty, mystery and sweetness. It will be fun.

I love your style and colors. My work is so neutral but I so appreciate other artists colorful work.
