My current work draws inspiration from the memories of my many life stages. Adding, subtracting, richly layering with subtle details allows me to express them while celebrating, learning from them, persisting. Each painting is my pursuit of errands of truth.
I practice Chinese brush painting using ink and watercolor on rice paper. I draw my inspiration from nature and everyday life, and celebrate those simple pleasures through my art.
As an artist I use color and shape to create realism of not only the lost and forgotten, but also to give a voice to those who cannot speak for themselves so they may not become lost and forgotten.
My colored pencil art is in a hyperrealistic style inspired by nature. Participation in groups like ABUN-Artists and Biologists for Nature and Birdwhisperer Project provide a platform where my art can educate and promote conservation!
An adventurous traveler with a passion for exploring cultures and producing unique photography from all areas of the world, I’ve spent my time capturing rare perspectives and travel landscapes from 61 countries.
The reason I enjoy creating this work so much is that these images evoke the kind of pleasure that connecting to natural elements like water, minerals, stones, petals and wood does—a blend of satisfaction and contentment.
I have an interest in portraying single figures in low-key scenes. I hope to capture a melancholy mood that I felt growing up. My paintings are of people in public places yet muted emotionally. Most of my art is sourced from my family album.
I am an art explorer who keeps moving forward and using techniques that convey my deep appreciation and love of the natural world.
My latest illustrative series “Millenimals,” features endearing animal characters that are inspired by my childhood love of Russian fairy tale storybooks, as well as modern Canadian millennial food rituals and day-to-day observations.
“Blue Notes Phase VI” completes the series of monochromatic blues in tight repetitive patterns, but not my fascination for these juxtaposed hues.
This Scottish Highland cow was spotted in a remote glen by the roadside on a recent art research trip. I want the viewer to feel connected, a part of or have an affinity with my work.
I see images in the paint as I let the paint flow on the canvas. I love bringing those images to life. I never know what I’m going to see!
I love using pointillism as an exercise in mindfulness and connection to nature through art. It brings me back to my days as a wild and joyful kid in the back hills of East Tennessee.
My portrait subjects tend to have an indifferent appearance despite the chaos, or decay going on around them. I like to think of my portraits as decaying propaganda posters. Silent windows to another reality.
I am drawn to scenes where a distinctive detail or color can be emphasized to bring out the beauty between color and black and white images. I use this technique in landscape, architecture and Americana.
I’ve practiced as a criminal defense lawyer for over four decades. As an artist, I am self-taught and passionate. My work reflects an intensity of emotion honed through a lifetime of rich, personal interactions and experiences.
Mainly abstract in style, all my arts are painted intuitively. Each painting reflects the vibrancy of life, a balance of intense texture and soft movements. Each pulls you inward towards an adventure of the soul.
In this artwork, I was inspired by the time of day when the sun is setting. It is still bright, yet the city lights have already been turned on. The magic of the transformation of light is endlessly fascinating to me.
I enjoy creating a slightly altered view on reality and am often inspired by the human psyche—especially that of women. I often explore different themes celebrating the female figure.
I created a new mixed media artwork to show the community’s excitement while tossing pumpkins for a STEM project on November 3rd in Chula Vista, California, to teach science, math and engineering to third through twelfth grades.
I focus on realistic, botanical portraiture of flowers in several media. I am interested in the organizing principles of nature, colour and language as well as practising fine art draughtsmanship—thus I love working with pencils on paper.
The whole world is not as it appears. This artwork shows moments in history which can be interpreted with a different perspective. This is a highly detailed 3D computer artwork intended to spark a “Second Renaissance” in art.
“Art is the passageway into the heart and soul of the artist.” Inspiration is when you have touched another soul with your art. This is the reason I continue to paint.
“Queen of the Night” is created in camera to capture the interior display of window mannequins and the reflection of the exterior world as it bounces off the window pane.
My work explores issues of time, life and memory. Through painting I channel life experiences to create works of art. Using strong tonal forms and a vivid colour palette, my paintings are visual representations of inner feelings.
I love the spirit, the essence of art—creating images in oils or pastels evoking peace, spirituality and the feeling of soaring into the sky. I hope to help elevate our time in the world.
This painting is part of my Big Earth series, which explores the relationship between the landscape and our own fragility. The center image tells a story and the border acts as a footnote for closer exploration.
I use many mediums. My work is mostly abstract with flow and the natural world inspiring my paintings. They delve into a place where art is a transformational, energetic and direct force for good.
I paint ideas, depicting the impossible or at least the highly improbable. Inspired by Magritte, I’m a modern-day surrealist. My paintings will make you think and hopefully, bring a smile to your face.
I am inspired by color and the desire to push past “pretty” paintings and draw the viewer in for a closer look. The alcohol ink expresses the colorful images that I imagine.
The ethereal mix of color and texture that is created by watercolors is fascinating to me. Every time water and color meet paper, magic happens. And every time magic happens, a story is told!
