Like a hard drive, my life is filled with images of the past, present and future.
This timeline, shaped by the past, present and future, represents my photographic work. I am strongly anchored in the matter, the elements, the cells, the visible and the invisible of our environment. I directly express my emotions through the energy of all living matter, which leads me to a lyrical abstraction of the photographic medium.
Since my childhood, I have lived life intensely, my curiosity always coupled with an obsession to find out the “why” of things. I was often told that my mind sometimes appeared to be “somewhere else.” This was for a good reason—I had discovered how to experience the present moment and see the universe as a whole. I might have been described as “emotionally hyperactive” as I was completely focused on my craze and my thirst to contemplate and understand everything I experienced. I did this through studying history, mythology, macroscopy and microscopy and through the arts of painting and photography.
I learned about the power of photography from admiring Polaroid snapshots and old photos. My career path allowed me to link with imagery and art; as a professional in hardware and digital computing and as a fitness trainer where I taught the art of body expression in relation to physical culture.
I believe that digital technology, the management of space and the shaping of human matter, have led me to continue my work expressing myself as an artist and photographer. The evolution of digital techniques allows me to experiment with my personal vision of abstraction. Expanding beyond the beaten track is possible by bringing a personal and harmonious touch.
I work outdoors and indoors—wherever there are subjects to “capture.” I use the rules common to painting when working in photography. I like to break these rules by blurring the edge between the two mediums to better express myself.
I choose from several cameras when taking my photographs depending on the circumstance and subject matter. I use off-road, full format, infrared and negative techniques to reveal what our eyes, unlike the eyes of many other mammals, cannot naturally see. To enhance my images, I have my works printed by fine art printing professionals on museum-quality paper and canvas.
My mission is to create imagery that is a combination of the photographer who captures the tangible in the moment, and the painter who expresses an inner representation. The union of the two is possible by refining the vision of each one in a concept where an alchemy of techniques tools is created.
I base most of my practice on a thoughtful moment of observation, in the spontaneity of an opportune moment. The important thing is to capture the viewer’s attention with a simple message—to create a memorable visual shock.
An open mind is essential to adaptation and the evolution of our future. The association of dreams, emotions, feelings and environment in my work does not necessarily contain a concrete meaning—I want my approach to allow my audience to interpret my work freely.
All of my current collections of photographs are interconnected by my artistic approach. A balance exists between realism and abstraction—I invite you to immerse yourself in my world.
