I am a digital artist living in the US in West Virginia. I have loved photography since childhood and have been an amateur photographer for many years, usually taking lots of photos on family vacations. My passion has been photographing nature—mostly flowers, waterfalls and scenery.
My passion for nature plays a huge part in my images, as many contain flowers, birds and butterflies. When I discovered digital art, it opened a whole new world of excitement and delightful fun. It changed the traditional way I viewed photography. This resulted in the ability to create amazing new images that fuel my passion.
I began my fun journey in Photoshop with a Photoshop Artistry course by Sebastian Michaels. After completing that course, I took his advanced Awake and Kaizen courses.
When creating digital art in Photoshop, I start with a blank canvas. I add a background and then add photos or pieces of photos. Then I add layer upon layer, bit by bit, until the piece is finished.
Sometimes I make adjustments to the image by adding additional layers that complement and change the look of the piece.
I use model images from my courses and I have purchased model images from Colby Files. Recently, I have started using and photographing my own models (even myself). I prefer this, since the actual photography portion of my art is one of the biggest reasons that I enjoy creating my art.
My series “Soulful Women” portrays the many emotions of women, from happy to mysterious. Life’s journey holds many ups and downs. I want to portray these emotions through my art.
I love creating surreal images that combine unusual elements that makes my audience stop and think. For example, my image “Guardian” combines a bird and butterfly wings to make an entirely new little creature.
Several of my images have been published in the international Living the Photo Artistic Life magazine.
I have also been recognized in other photo competitions and exhibited in local art shows. My image “Goldn” received 5th place overall in the recent 555 Special Art Exhibition 2019 on LightSpaceTime.
