I have been fascinated by colors, cityscapes, clouds and sunsets throughout my life.
My enthusiasm for painting began in 2008. At this time I was completely enthralled with watercolors. My favorite motifs were cityscapes, and I still paint in watercolor today. However, I never paint watercolor pictures in the typical translucent style. I love the rich and strong color which has became a characteristic part of my art.
Grubbing in art material catalogues, I was always attracted by beautiful sets of soft pastel sticks. I had to give them a trial. Soon I became familiar with soft pastels, which opened new opportunities to me. I was able to express my fascination for cloud formations and sky atmospheres so much better with these soft pastels.
Since I’m very emotional, I searched for a way to give my feelings artistic room. My disposition for experimentation and the desire for diversity and challenge opened my way to acrylic painting.
I soon learned to love and appreciate the unlimited possibilities of acrylic painting. My penchant for rich, strong colors was completely satisfied.
Today, combining charcoal, various pens, markers and oil pastels with acrylic opens an endless world of expression. The fact that each single tool makes it’s own characteristic mark makes my heart beat faster. Each brush makes a different stroke, each selected pen a variable mark.
Acrylic painting offers me the freedom to express my deepest feelings and my philosophy of life, and convey them into color.
Starting a new picture is a wonderful moment. My intuition is free of any limits. During this phase, I feel like a child—full of joy and fun—testing everything and enjoying the moment. After several layers, the dialogue between the picture and me begins. Both must be satisfied at this stage. What does the picture want? What do I need?
My abstract pictures are emotional messages. They show the world as I see, experience and feel it.
A further medium of expression is collage. I own several antique books that have become valuable treasures. Every page in each book has individual signs of wear that tell a story. Arranging them together with natural and self-colored papers is like meditation. I also like to combine collage with acrylic paint.
My greatest wish is to delight people with my art.
