“Morning Bliss” acrylic on paper, 16″ x 12″

I paint contemporary abstract landscapes inspired by my experiences and travels. My paintings are atmospheric—the luminous colors invite an emotional response.

“Awakening 2″ acrylic on paper, 17.5″ x 21”

My paintings are inspired by my experiences in nature. Growing up, my family and I took day trips in the Rocky Mountains. I remember gazing out the car window and following the lines of the trees, mountain tops, rivers and clouds, painting those scenes in my mind. I continue to search the horizon for landscapes that move me.

“A Glow Within” acrylic on paper, 30″ x 22″

My current body of work is based on visits to the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range as it extends from Colorado into the southwest region of New Mexico.

“Evening Calm” acrylic on paper, 20″ x 14″

I am moved by this area’s immense beauty and its drastic change of scenery from the high mountain peaks of the Rocky Mountains to the stillness of the high desert. The beauty of this area has changed me. I am drawn to paint it.

“Emerging from the Haze” acrylic on paper, 17″ x 21″

Art is a meditative process for me. I enjoy the rhythm of looking through my images for that spark of inspiration, sizing and preparing the paper support, putting out the colors on my palette and mixing colors to create the harmony and the emotion of the scene.

“From a Distance” acrylic on paper, 20″ x 16″

To start, I use black and white versions of my photographs as a reference for composition, then draw on my memory of the color to capture the spirit of these special locations. After sketching the design on paper, I use many layers of acrylic color to create an illuminated sense of atmosphere and depth.

“Evening Hush” acrylic on paper, 30″ x 22″

Art has been a part of my life since I was a child. I took painting classes at the Art Students League of Denver which led me to pursue an art degree. I earned my Bachelor in Fine Art in Painting and Drawing from Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in Denver, Colorado.

“In the Still” acrylic on paper, 21.5″ x 15″

My studio is located in the River North Arts District (otherwise known as RiNo) in Denver. When I’m not there, I spend my time at home with my family—especially this year. Currently, my home is in the foothills of Golden, Colorado, just 30 minutes away from Denver.

“In the Flow” acrylic on paper, 16″ x 20″

I find joy in taking long walks around the neighborhood with our dogs and experimenting with cooking in the kitchen. One of our favorite things to do as a family is hiking and camping in Colorado’s beautiful outdoors where I find inspiration for new work.
