“Folly Pier” oil and cold wax on linen gallery wrap, 16″ x 16″
I believe that visual language has potent power, like music or literature. It has the power to lift, communicate, heal and transform.

“Over the Moon” oil and cold wax on cradle board, 16″ x 16″
My art is a visual language that reflects the mood, light, fragrance and atmosphere of the moment.

“Surf” acrylic and mixed media on canvas wrap, 30″ x 30″
When I approach my canvas, the journey begins with the first marks of color. From there, the paintings start evolving layer by layer. It is a push and pull of light, color and balance of the composition. I especially enjoy painting joyful and uplifting expressions.

“I’ll Meet You There” mixed media on canvas, 24″ x 24″
I was born with a need to be creative. I’ve been fortunate to find inspiration in my travels abroad and from my experiences living primarily on the Pacific and Atlantic coasts as well as the wonder of the lifestyle in New Mexico and Colorado. It is humbling to observe and experience the wonder of all of heaven’s creation.

“Tidepool” acrylic on canvas wrap, 30″ x 30″
This accumulation of life’s experiences has created a collection of stories which I use for my work. I continue to study and visit museums, botanical gardens or anything that might give me a different perspective than I had the day before. I am also greatly influenced by the romantic impressionist era.

“Pink Fog” acrylic and mixed media on canvas wrap, 36” x 36”
The coastal environment provides a splendid array of sunsets, cloudscapes and reflections on water which ignite my creative spark. I paint these images in my studio, surrounding myself with music and poetry while I work. Creating, for me, is a journey of healing and reflection. Each painting is individually designed using different tools, media and textures, but the message is always to uplift and create joy.

“From a Distance” mixed media on canvas panel, 12” x 12”
Lately I have called on water media and pastels for larger and more contemporary works. Oils, however, will always be my favorite for their smoothness and rich lovely texture. I often mix oils with cold wax and add graphite or pastel markings. However, I truly feel that the medium is not so important as the characteristic and unity of the work.

“Polar Blue” oil on canvas wrap, 40” x 30”
From a personal perspective, art has been a major aspect of my healing journey with cancer. It has also provided me with a tool to reach remedial learners in elementary school. This is an area I want to keep developing as I have witnessed the healing, joy and hope art creates.

“Port City” acrylic and mixed media on canvas, 48” x 60”
Collaborating with designers and clients directly, I am a firm believer that art in the home or office creates a place of sanctuary where we can escape the pace of a hectic world.
