I was born in 1958 in Iceland. In my early years, I was already focused on the arts with the intent of being creative.
Throughout my school years I had a hard time with academic classes, but I always shined when it came to art. Creating art made me feel good. It gave me a feeling of purpose in my life and the ability to connect more with the world.
As I got older, I decided I wanted to attend The Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts in Reykjavik, Iceland.
From the beginning, I knew I had found where I belonged. Straight away, my path in life became clearer. The Icelandic landscapes, nature and folklore inspired me.
After graduating, I wanted not only to immerse myself in my art, but also get in touch with my feelings so I could better express myself.
Today, I paint in a way that is very unique—it took years of failure and years of practice to master. Fortunately, it now comes very naturally and effortlessly to me. It changes with me as my life changes.
Sometimes, though, I find myself at a crossroads. Where to go from here? What direction do I want to take my art? Because of this, I’ve always been very keen to experiment.
As I’m very in tune with my feelings, I always let them decide when a painting is done. Sometimes when a painting is almost done, I stop and let it breathe before I come back and finish the last piece to the puzzle.
My passion for art has greatly affected my life and how I live. It helps me focus on my personal development and allows me to get to know myself, as well as letting others in on the personal feelings expressed through my work.
