I learned the art and craft of jewelry making in a traditional goldsmith apprenticeship program in Germany, where I was born and trained.

 

 

My style is influenced by my roots. But instead of harsh geometry, I like to keep the shapes organic and flowing, with uncluttered simplicity that are easy to wear.

 

 

Saw, hammer, file and torch are my most important tools. Usually, I start by cutting out parts with the jigsaw. Then, the pieces are bent or forged, and soldered. After filing and sanding, I create different finishes. I use steel wool for brushed finish or hammers, and stamps and files for a more textured look.

 

 

I enjoy learning new techniques like Keum-Boo (an ancient Korean method), etching and various stone setting methods. There is always something new and interesting to discover.

 

 

I like my material to be affordable so I can fill my workshop with a creativity-spurring variety of stones and metals. I love to experiment with metals such as silver, brass and copper, with little gold accents or gemstones added.

 

 

I also create unique custom pieces of fine jewelry out of gold and precious stones for customers. This collaboration often sparks new design ideas for other pieces.

 

 

My love for the outdoors and gardening inspires many of my pieces, as well as cityscapes.

 

 

Lately, I’ve been interested in macro nature photography. There are so many patterns and unusual shapes to be found when you take a really close look at things! After years of selling work at art fairs, I set up a shared studio space and storefront with my friend Leia Zumbro. In a sense, we made our art fair booth permanent. We do everything you would expect from a jewelry store, but with a unique handmade twist.

 

 

This is a dream come true! I love the camaraderie and truly believe that the synergy of people working together is priceless.
