“LIGHT MY FIRE (Jim Morrison)” epoxy paint and soot on canvas and wood, 93cm x 122cm
I´m Mauricio Sánchez Rengifo, an artist formally known as MASARE, born in Pereira, Colombia.

“TEEN SPIRIT (Kurt Cobain)” epoxy, enamel paint, plaster and gun powder on canvas and wood, 93cm x 122cm
Professionally, I am an architect. However, my passions include music and visual art. My formal training and passions merged to allow me to evolve into the artist I am today.

“ALIVE IN THE SUPERUNKNOWN (Chris Cornell)” carved on glass, mirror and LED installation, 90cm diameter
I’m continually striving to find ways to enhance and express my art. I am always researching materials, tools, visuals effects and audio visuals to incorporate in my works.

“CLIFF´EM ALL (Cliff Burton)” acrylics, epoxy paint and glass fragments on wood and canvas, 122cm x 138cm
In the last 14 years, my visual art has been composed with fragmentation and manipulation of shapes and forms. This technical form amplifies the visual effects. I am strongly influenced by kinetic and optical movements learned during my architectural training and from my love of Pop art.

“MARILYN´S DIAMONDS (Marilyn Monroe)” acrylics, epoxy paint and neon pigments on wood and canvas, 140cm x 140cm
My artwork is based on the recognition of images fragmented to the point where what one initially sees is the product of our subconscious mind. However, once the eye processes the information of the fragmented pieces, the viewer has the ability to experience what is beyond the visual effects.

“COSMIC PEARL (Janis Joplin)” acrylics, epoxy paint and neon resin on wood and canvas, 93cm x 122cm
I deconstruct the subject’s face into plots, lines, serial geometrics, textures, reflections and refractions. This forces the viewer to journey into my artistic perspective and finally meet a recognizable face that stimulates a personal memory or emotion.

“REHAB (Amy Winehouse)” epoxy, enamel paint, broken glass and fabric on canvas and wood, 93cm x 122cm
The process of discovery is the journey I want to create in each of my works.

Artist MASARE with his work
I want everyone to experience my art as if someone was experiencing a song or album that they enjoy, going through ups and downs, traveling through their memories and emotions.

“MAN IN THE BOX (Layne Staley)” epoxy paint on wood, 217cm x 122cm
I portray the subject to inspire both a conscious and subconscious encounter. This allows a progressive discovery from different perspectives, whether in distances or variable light conditions, empowering the viewer.
