Capturing the broad vistas and small details I see each day infuses my work’s goal to bring our world and its people closer together.

Photography has been a constant companion in my life and I have shared these moments with friends and family. With their encouragement I am now sharing them with other through Page’s Pages Around the World—a play on my name that highlights global perspective.

My father was a journalist and photographer. For years, I used his old Rollieflex and often did my own darkroom work, moving to digital around 2000. Beginning as a self-taught novice, classes and experience have added to my skills. I’m always taking photography classes. I have particularly enjoyed classes at Longwood Gardens, Pennsylvania and Rocky Mountain School of Photography in Montana.

I prefer to stay as close to the original view as possible, though sometimes it’s amazing what software can do to better evoke the mood I try to portray! I currently use a mirrorless Olympus for its small size and weight, and do modest editing in Lightroom.

An aspect of my global mission is to support the work of the not-for-profit, Foundation for the Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER). I had the honor of founding the ELAM leadership program for mid-career women faculty and co-founding the International FAIMER Institute for mid-career health professions faculty around the world.

“Galapagos and Joy” photography, various sizes
Both programs dramatically increased my love and understanding of our interconnected world. Most of my travel to six continents has been for regional FAIMER programs in Brazil, Sub-Saharan Africa, India and China. To bring the world closer, I often create inspirational images, combining them with quotes. I have created a calendar for FAIMER for more than a decade. The 2022 calendar showcases “Messages of Joy from the World.”

“South Africa Lighthouse” photography, various sizes
The 2023 calendar will showcase “Messages of Light from the World.” Each year’s calendar honors health professionals who are working on the front lines of health care and educating the next generation of health practitioners around the globe.

Creating multi-language greeting cards is another way I honor global cultures. My cards showcase the beautiful scripts that are among the top ten languages used in the world, which include Mandarin, Hindi, Arabic, Spanish and Urdu as well as English. I have learned an enormous amount about linguistics and how different cultures express typical messages like Congratulations and Sympathy!

“Dawn Light” photography, various sizes
My work can be seen periodically at local galleries and art and craft fairs near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I submit to several photo contests and shows. The image “Dawn Light” was juried into the 2022 Phillips Mill Photographic Exhibition. I have won awards in the annual Pennypack Photo Contest. My photographs are available for sale in various media and sizes on my online gallery, as are calendars, greeting cards and gifts.
