The need to create has always been there, ever since I was a little girl. It is a primal need to express myself that has helped me to push my boundaries creatively and personally connecting the two, out of necessity.

I see myself as an explorer of sorts. Exploring with color and shapes while keeping the forms as organic and spontaneous as possible.

Stopping this exploration from happening would be tantamount to dying. Yes, a part of me would collapse if I stopped exploring with my work. Especially since having a traumatic brain injury a number of years ago.

Creating my work has given me a form of communication that I am able to understand both on a spontaneous tactical attribute mixed with expressionism in an abstract way.

Born out of this necessity comes freedom and discipline that I have committed to creating everyday. I have accepted my TBI, even though it has taken me a very long time to get to the point of understanding. I’ve had to rely more and more on the visual expression of my work since it is easier for me to understand, over the placement of words.

I am very physical when I create, causing my work to be very expressive in nature.

I’m subtly stimulated when I see the spontaneity of the movement of color, reacting with more and more layers of expressiveness until the story is complete.

This could take hours, days or sometimes weeks, depending on what the piece is trying to convey.  Even though I am the one creating the piece I feel like at some point that the piece is creating me.
