I am a full-time artist. I have lived in the far north of remote Western Australia for the last 30 years. It is here that I find the inspiration for my work.
Always resonating with the natural environment, my work speaks of the peace and soul soothing beauty that can be found in the stillness of nature.
I have spent many years travelling around this incredible country by helicopter. This has given me a unique perspective of the beauty, grandeur, and vastness of this ancient earth.
The richness of colour ranges from pindan red, to desert sands to the turquoise blue of the Kimberley coast. The raw power of mother nature is expressed through cyclonic flooding to dry cracked earth, powerful ocean tides and the ever-changing artistry of winding riverbeds and tidal creek tributaries.
These images echo through my brush, revealing this country and all its beauty from an aerial perspective. Brolga also feature heavily in my work. They gather in large family groups, dancing their joy out on the salt flats. When I paint these giant Australian cranes, I am thinking of my own family, both our connection and our distance and the journey of our lives.
I work on aluminium composite panels. The shiny surface offers me great opportunities of experimentation in mark making. When working in oils, I paint the places that echo through my soul.
When I step up to the easel with a mix of media supplies, I create works that are more intuitive. This is more about the way the country makes me feel than what I have seen.
My studio and gallery are nestled amongst tropical gardens in the historic pearling town of Broome, Western Australia. I welcome visitors year round to come and view the latest collection on show and the current work on the easel.
