“Oakwell Farms Tree No 1” digital photography, sizes vary
I took photography classes as a graphic design major at the University of Illinois in Chicago. There I developed a passion for capturing images that had good composition and artistic elements to enhance the overall impact.

“Natural Abstract No127” digital photography, sizes vary
In my career as a graphic designer, I tended to find solutions that included photography. One of my early projects was to photograph a college student tour of Europe and return to design the catalog for next year’s tours.

“Natural Abstract No 7” digital photography, sizes vary
Shortly after moving to San Antonio, my graphic design career evolved into a marketing career. My hands-on photography was lessened. However, it would come in handy as I was now collaborating with designers and/or photographers to help solve marketing problems.

“Aspen Abstract” digital photography, sizes vary
Now in retirement, my passion has been rekindled. I enjoy photography even more because I’m able to devote more time to it. I particularly enjoy photographing nature, but also like capturing city scenes and wildlife.

“Natural Abstract No. 250” digitial photography, sizes vary
One series I like to keep adding to is one of natural abstracts. I find these photos most interesting in the sense that images are reduced to basic elements in a composition to attract the viewer.

“Sagrada Familia 2” digital photography, sizes vary
I’ve self-published several books that deal with various topics: Heritage Oak trees in my neighborhood, sacred places I’ve had the privilege of visiting, and natural abstracts. My latest book is a collaboration with a medical doctor presenting several case studies related to the health benefits of trees.

“Taos Pueblo Stream” digital photography, sizes vary
Of course, it’s exciting to get recognition for your work by your peers and especially by qualified jurors in being selected for various exhibitions. But what excites me most is when someone you don’t know enjoys your image almost as much as you do.

“Five Crosses” digital photography, sizes vary
I enjoy giving back to the creative community by serving on the board of the San Antonio Art League + Museum. I also docent there, which allows me to interact with the public. Getting their feedback on art is most interesting… and, of course, so subjective.
