Artist Jean Rill-Alberto presents a collection of stationery and accessories featuring her whimsical designs. Find out more about this prolific artist by visiting her website.
I am a mixed-media collage artist, painter, quilter and designer. I love working with paper and fabric, fitting pieces of color and design together with balance and harmonious composition. I find it to be a wonderfully creative source of serenity for me.
My company “With Heart By Hand”, was born in 2003 but I made my debut in 2004 at The National Stationery Show in New York City where I introduced my work in a national forum. From that point on, along with sales reps, I have gained many wholesale accounts nationwide.
I first began with a unique line of art greeting cards, and now I also apply my many designs to other coordinating gift items such as wooden trinket boxes, paperweights, pillows, tote bags, wall art, calendars and even fun art-to-wear jewelry.
My collages are made using different types of papers, colored pencils, acrylic paints and some of my own handcut stamps. Having always adored the Japanese sense of style and simplicity and a love for their culture, I think that is where my inspiration began, especially in some of my earlier designs.
Being a visual person…I am always inspired by nature and it’s beauty all around us. My love for animals and nature is celebrated in many of my designs.
My latest passion is fiber art, creating what I call “raw-form” design hanging panels, which are a mixture of paper, fabric, threads and other embellishments.
Aside from my paper and crayons, I also loved quilting and embroidery as a child and would spend hours handstitching little gems, so this brings me back and I love that.
My work has been featured in many craft galleries, bookstores and boutiques throughout the United States and abroad and I also participate in various craft shows throughout the year.
I studied at New York’s School of Visual Arts and The Art Students League working in fine art and then in commercial graphic design for 10 years. I presently live and work out of my studio in Southern New England.
My designs are often noted for their elegance, whimsical style and sophistication. I truly love what I do and I find it very fulfilling to make something special for people to admire, and to enjoy sharing with others.
Everyday, I hope that somewhere I am making someone smile!
