I am a 41 year old artist from Santa Monica, now living and working in Culver City, CA. I have been a full time artist for 15 years.
My first show was at Ground Zero in Marina Del Rey and since then I have shown my work in New Orleans, Denver, New York, Mexico City, Puerto Vallarta. My most recent show, “Fade to White” was at LOCZIdesign in San Francisco.
I am currently working on a body of work called “Searching For Heroes” which will be unveiled in L.A. on January 18th, 2014.
I think I have worked hard to get to a place where I can spend my days just focusing on growing as an artist. I’m grateful that I have the time to challenge myself with completely new bodies of work.
I’m not just painting the same images I was making 10 years ago. I have stumbled into new territory, struggles, and learned. It’s very rewarding to step in a new direction and find meaning.
I am currently working on a series called “Searching For Heroes.” It is about the artist searching for inspiration. I’m completely engaged in this and loving it. It’s taking me to new places.
What inspires me? Anytime I see someone living with passion, I feel inspired. I once saw a band jamming at a small bar in Northern Brazil. I thought, “I wanna make paintings the way these guys play music.”
But mostly, it is a snowball effect. Once I start making one painting, I get several ideas for more. And the snowball grows and keeps rolling…
