My sensitivity to the many environments created by man was what led me to pursue a career in the arts. As I travel the world, whether I’m plein air painting or taking photographs, I find myself relentlessly exploring and studying what makes each culture unique.

 

 

I have become a cultural anthropologist who participates in everything–from daily customs to annual holiday celebrations–where I can witness the meaning behind the visual messages. I immerse myself in the study of the history and heritage of a culture–the roots of its symbols, arts and architecture, and its ideology about life.

 

 

Whether I am in front of a temporary installation for a special event or a monolithic stone structure that will endure for generations, I stand in awe of the beauty that exists in every corner of the world.

 

 

No matter how limited the resources of a particular people are, the desire to embellish their surroundings is a universal need. What seems meaningless to one culture can be comforting, exciting or inspiring to another.

 

 

Each piece of artwork I create is a postcard of a fleeting moment in time, capturing the personality of a culture and the places it adorns. My artwork is a snapshot that documents the inherent beauty created by human touch.

 

 

I strive to capture the colors, textures and light that speak of the spirit of that culture. My work honors the timeless ingenuity and the hands that created the art that so many others have experienced.

 

 

It was during my professional career as an environmental, textile and licensed artist (for companies such as Walt Disney Imagineering, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Target) that I had the opportunity to spend many years abroad.

 

 

I witnessed an energetic relationship between people and the architecture, furniture, clothing and other elements I designed and realized that I was leaving a lasting message about the time, place and culture.

 

 

During my extensive travels, I began sketching and painting unique visual clues of the cultures I explored which became the inspiration for my fine art paintings today.

 

 

My work is in numerous private collections in the United States and abroad. I continue to accept private commissions, and was recently awarded the contract to create the cover art for the menu program at The Coral Reef Restaurant at Epcot, Walt Disney World.
