Celebration of the Landscape

Denice Peters – Using pastels, I try to capture that vanishing rural beauty surrounding us every day, that many of us take for granted. I want to give the viewer a sense of peace.

 

 

Jane Kell – I love the warm, golden tones of the trees and fading greens in this landscape as the summer moves into autumn.

 

 

Joanna Turlej – I am a collage artist. I use pieces of high quality magazine papers, such as Japanese papers, as well as my own painted papers to create an image. I describe my technique as “painting with paper.”

 

 

Karen Wysopal – Alcohol ink and Yupo paper require a dance of give and take between artist and medium, which I find meditative. I can’t imagine a happier way to spend my time!

 

 

Kathy Rennell Forbes – While teaching a watercolor journaling workshop in coastal Maine, I captured this scene in quick plein air sketches and photos; later I completed this larger watercolor at my studio.

 

 

Mira Fink – My art is about recreating the sense of being outdoors in the beauty of the natural world. I love painting the varying color and light in all the different seasons.

 

 

Nanci McCune – The beauty of the ever-changing sky and how it reflects upon the earth has been an endless source of inspiration for my oil paintings since 1969. I’m constantly experimenting, hoping to find new ways to make the canvas glow.

 

 

Rani Garner – Like many of my paintings, this one evolved over time. I invented a lake scene with the intense lighting I’m drawn to, and the mist was a later addition.

 

 

Shannon Celia – I aim to capture the movement of light, wind and sea. I’m compelled to paint contemporary coastal vignettes which celebrate palms, boats, lifeguard towers, horizons, seabirds, waves and anything seaside.

 

 

Susan Pepe – Beginning with splashes of color, once I turned the canvas upside-down, I saw it – the image already there – I just set it free so others could see it too.

 

 

Trixie Pitts – Based on my memory from a recent safari, this large (60 x 96 inches) diptych was painted with layers and layers of white to achieve a dreamy peaceful, otherworldly feeling.

 

 

Wendy Marquis – In Montana, old rusted trucks are embedded into the landscape. I found this beautiful old Chevy and with my brush, placed it on the side of a country road.

 

 

Felice Panagrosso – This Series examines neon signage from the 30’s through the 50’s. These objects in our landscape juxtapose commerce, human search for meaning and permanence, against the never-ending flow of time.
