I look forward to creating something new in my studio every day. My paintings explore representational objects, my thoughts, and my feelings. Working with realistic imagery from everyday life, and geometric shapes of different scales and dimensions, I combine these forms to tell my story.

Drawing and painting have always been part of my life. As a young child, I drew constantly with precious red pencils on lined notebook paper, since supplies were scarce in the post-World War II years in my native Greece. When I was ten, we came to the United States. Trying to hold on to my roots and fit into new surroundings, I began to balance the two worlds through my art.

In my teens, I spent countless hours drawing fashion figures and designing fabrics that would make up their stylish outfits. This passion with pattern and design led to a career in interior design for over forty years.

Today I’m curious about many things, but color is what captures my attention, driving me to create my work.

Inspiration can be discovered in all things and places. I find it during my morning walk around the pond, the supermarket produce aisle, or on fashion displays at the mall. I work with mixed media, not limiting the materials, to express myself. Ultimately for me, it’s all about color!

My years of experience as an interior designer also continue to influence my paintings. The sustained exposure to textile patterns and a variety of architectural materials is rendered in my paintings through abstraction and color relationships.

My painting process is spontaneous and intuitive. I develop the composition by balancing all the elements of light and dark shapes, editing unexpected textures, and making choices for a balanced painting.

My style is abstract, incorporating an asymmetrical design, bold color and line as major components to my work. My imagery has been described as lyrical and poetic, conveying mysterious organic forms and surfaces.

I think of my paintings as visual expressions and interpretations of the way I see and experience the world around me, changing constantly as I develop emotionally and spiritually.

Now I am working on paintings that incorporate handmade paper, polymer clay components and original printed collage material. I hope my work sparks a connection with the viewer that intrigues and mystifies them so they will return.
