Although I am classically trained, I feel I need to go past that for soul purposes, just as our souls grow past each experience. By playing with layers of finished paintings, watercolor, photography, kiln glass and lights, I create my “Souls Series” as I watch the colors, textures and shapes transform without always knowing what to expect.
I am much more process-oriented than product-oriented, as in life. I move around transparent areas in space until completely new images are born.
By playing with layers of finished art, photography, glass and watercolor, I watch the colors, textures and shapes transform once again as I move around transparent areas in space until completely new Souls are born. Just as we each have a unique soul that layers and develops over time, so does this artwork.
My Souls Series tends to deconstruct and then reconstruct parts of prior artworks into new pieces. And isn’t that the way our souls develop in life anyway?
We must keep our souls bonding in this world. These two many-layered souls are created as if twins, best friends, two countries trying to do better.
The arts can communicate so much about what is happening and how we may better communicate. Peace to all.
I find I important to have my Soul paintings tell stories, both visually and through the titles.
Can you tell what is going on in each of these Souls?
