The open landscape, the magical quality of light and the earthy palette of her native Nebraska are captured in Beth Cole’s oil paintings. Enjoy more of her work by visiting her website.
I live with my husband at the foot of the Nebraska Sandhills in the center of Nebraska. I was raised on a wheat farm and I live in a small farming community, so I paint what I know best—the land I see all around me. I hope people connect with the rural landscape and lifestyle through my oil paintings of the land and the sky.
I came to painting from a background in business and graphic and web design. I pushed back from the computer in 2012 and picked up a paintbrush and never looked back.
My only regret is not starting sooner.
I have studied in person and online with many wonderful artists including Kim Casebeer, Karen Margulis, Todd Williams and many others. Learning is something I really love and hope I never stop.
I like going on photography outings with my husband. We drive the back roads to see what we can see. This is great inspiration for my painting practice, as I use many of these photos as reference material for my paintings.
I also use memory and imagination as much as possible.
My goals are to paint every day and to help others, through my art, to experience the same satisfaction I do. I participate in several art shows and events per year and I try to blog about my art journey weekly and share artsy goodness monthly with a newsletter.
Here is one of one of my favorite quotes…..
“You don’t have to think YOU are great, but you do need to feel that what you’re after is great. You need to feel at any moment that the canvas could come alive, could become a beautiful picture. To think that way raises the stakes. You shouldn’t be held back by the thought that you’re not good enough, not experienced enough. That’s always going to be true; no artist is as good as he or she could be; that’s what keeps us painting.”
