I’m a self-taught artist specializing in landscape art created as contemporary realism. The principle elements in my paintings are trees, water and snow. I either feature one of these elements as the main theme, or I combine two or more of them.
I make extensive use of trees in my images. I am fascinated with how versatile trees can be in art. For example, you can use them as a background, a frame or a screen. They are also useful for creating impressionistic coloring effects, geometric elements and invoking a sense of place.
I use three graphic paint programs (Corel Painter, ArtRage and Rebelle),an electronic drawing tablet, and a personal computer to create my art.
Many of my paintings feature leafless trees. I fill the intersections formed by the bare branches with various colors to create a semi-stained glass appearance.
My main objective as a painter is to create a beautiful piece of art and invoke a mood or sense of place. I am most happy when I hear a person say, upon first seeing one of my pieces, “That’s beautiful!”
I would say that my approach to art is mostly pragmatic rather than philosophical or sociological. It is probably an outgrowth of my vocation as a software technical writer and how I studied art.
I devoted over thirty years studying art, but I was more interested in studying paintings, drawings, sculptures and architecture visually rather than reading about the reasons why it was created or about art theory.
My art has won numerous awards and appears in local, national and international private collections as well as a corporate art collection.
In addition, I also provide designs for women’s accessories sold by ShopVida.com. These accessories include scarves, tops, and bags.

I particularly enjoy your use of color…transparent, glowing and vital. Thank you
Hi Marianne:
Thank you for your comment – color is my overriding passion when creating a work of art.
The digital tools provide an easy means of precisely controlling the color of the complete painting but also any element in the painting. Consequently, once a painting is ‘complete’ using one of the graphics programs I employ, I can easily experiment with different ‘looks’ until I get one I really like. I learned with natural media, but once I began painting with graphics programs, I will never go back to natural media because of the graphics programs unlimited manipulation capabilities.
OMG great job.
