I’ve been attracted to the applied arts since I was a child. I would create figurative sculpture, paint and make different decorative objects with whatever material I had access to. In addition, I used to develop designs for boutique clothes and leather handbags.
For the last four years, I’ve being working with glass. Usually, I start creating items through fusing and then I develop the shapes through slumping.
For me, it’s important to bring out the material’s potential and features. Glass creates expressive reverberation since it possesses this specific feature—it lets light pass through it. I like working with transparent colored glass since the color gives the items more expression and character. The light penetrates the glass, gets reflected by surrounding objects, and makes the glass radiate sparkles. I find pleasure in touching glass, experimenting with it and waiting for the furnace to cool down to see the results. My works are meant for those who enjoy their homes being places of spiritual treasures.
I perceive ideas floating around me, generated by movements or musical chords. When I walk in the street, a balcony full of flowers can suggest to me the idea of a color panel, vase or group of sculptures.
I believe that good design addresses people’s inner worlds. When I make a home or office glass panel, I strive to make it match the owner as much as possible. Glass items have character; they change like people do, with different ambiances. When you put them in the right place, they begin to shine. They reflect the energy of surrounding objects, and increase their impact. An item may look different depending on the specific environment, light and layout. My creative solutions always fit the particular place and its function.
I’m eager to make them melt into the environment, in order to contribute to the harmony and coziness of the space. I like developing my initial ideas through the working process.
Aiming at diversifying my works, I began making ceramic items. I use them as molds to make elaborate, new, and sometimes unexpected shapes.
My creative work is particularly focused around the process of experimenting and developing unique items. I’m looking for and studying new resources and materials to test them in my workshop.
I possess a permanent gallery in Sofia displaying my sculpture figures, wall panels and lots of interior and exterior decorative purpose items as well as tableware.
