I have always been creative.
For years I’ve dabbled in various mediums trying to find the right conduit to express that creativity. After discovering bone carving while living in New Zealand in 2004, I returned home with a feeling of finally having a direction in which I could channel my creativity.
I made a work space for myself and never looked back. Ten years later, the time seemed right to start showing my work and exposing my passion to the world. I’ve been showing ever since.
It was and is still a scary leap to go from my own little projects that few ever saw, to showing to the world something that I care so much about.
The reward, however, in sharing this with others has been incredible.
It is so exhilarating to see someone react to something that I have made, so gratifying to have conversations about how and what I do, and so unexpected to have that be so fulfilling. The creative world is one that I had always wanted to be a part of and it’s an awesome feeling to know I am actually a member.
I’m someone who believes in the magic of making things with your own hands.
I love the touch and feel and the nicks and bruises after I’ve worked so hard on making a vision into reality. I wake up each day thinking of how and what I get to create and obsess at length over each little change and intricacy.
In my creative life, I’ve constantly grown and expanded the materials and techniques I want to work with. By changing tools and techniques it feels like a whole new world of possibilities opens up and I get to play in a new space.
At this point, my passion and eye are drawn to large scale wooden sculpture wall art. My primary focus centers on the beauty and elegance of geometry and repetition.
