Being born and raised in my early years in California and learning to love beautiful seashores and majestic mountains at an early age, has created an indelible mark upon my imagination. I love all places that are naturally beautiful and serene.
My mother knew I was different from the other kids when I was very young, so she enrolled me in an art school at the age of five or six to help train some of those different abilities. That was one of my early memories of being creative.
I remember having a camera when I was in college, but I was a broke college kid and pretty sure I didn’t buy it. I don’t remember anyone giving it to me, and I’m pretty sure I didn’t steal it, so this must have been the first artistic miracle to have a camera miraculously show up. The second miracle would be the huge impact this tool has had on my life.
I photographed events in college and I remember how people reacted so generously and graciously to my work. It was clear I had somewhat of a special skill.
Shortly after college that camera went away as the business of life took over. However, about fifteen years ago I purchased a camera for my wife and shortly after I pretty much took it over.
I was influenced by seeing amazing works of photographic art on websites like Flickr.com and my imagination had been fired again.
As is the case for authors, that they generally do their best work when they write about topics that they know very well, the same is true for artists and photographers.
My early inspiration from seashores and mountain scenes continues to be a major driver in my artistic work today.
I have been able to travel to some of the most beautiful places in the world and capture some incredible scenes that most people will never see. That motivation to capture majestic beauty is transforming my photographic inspiration into becoming more of an artistic travel and landscape photographer.
Over the next few years, all of our kids will be out of the house. They will be all done with college and off to their careers and lives. So during this phase of life we plan on traveling three to four times a year to the most amazing places in the world. We will spend the time in these places to actually experience them, capture them in their most amazing beauty, and then share them with our large supportive community.
Thank you everyone for years of incredible support and encouragement and for your amazing continued support!
