I am a Mexican artist living in McKinney, Texas. I believe in the kindness of humanity, and that our diversity is what makes this world interesting. My work walks with me and changes with me as I go along with the world.
I am presenting my latest series, WALKERS. Now especially, I believe that the message behind this series is relevant and I want to share it. We are all walkers of life, as well as immigrants in this universe.
I am an immigrant myself. Born in Mexico City, I immigrated to the United States for personal reasons. I believe we all pursue answers. In the pursuit of these answers, there is a big possibility that we all might be heading to the same destiny, one which will unite us all.
Yes, we all come from different cultures and backgrounds, ones with unique exuberant colors and experiences. Yet we all are humans, and we all belong to the same beautiful and amazing world.
My search is a continuous one, especially now that we seem to be more disconnected to the spiritual and internal world. Since I started my art career over fifteen years ago, my art has been changing and evolving with my experiences. My quest is strongly based in the search to find meaning in the world through the inner world of feelings and wishes, of warmth and emotions, of fondness and tenderness—to find a path to what every single human is looking for.
In my art, I represent that trajectory through my walkers.
As travelers of the world and the universe, they are searchers of these emotions: love, passion, faith, kindness, dreams and vulnerability. They are catchers of dreams, explorers of aspirations, searchers of unity and of freedom. They are always asking, “Who are we? Where are we going? What are we looking for? What do we want?”
I like to believe that my art is an encounter between human vulnerability and a truthful hope. My walkers are travelers as well as dreamers. At the end of their path they will probably find the beginning of another great adventure.
They are the protagonists of the compositions and they come alive in thick oil impastos. They are always following a quest, but they are never alone.
In my paintings I am trying to transport my viewers to those places in my imagination where we often find ourselves. I want to touch people’s souls, open their hearts and invite them to walk with me.
