Realist painter Lynne Reichhart finds beauty in small details. Enjoy her portfolio and visit her website to see more.
Art has always been a part of my life. As a kid, I would stay up until all hours of the night drawing and painting. Receiving a red case filled with art supplies one Christmas was the best thing that could have happened to me at that age.
Of course, life sometimes gets in the way and I lost track of my creative side for many years. Once I retired from a twenty-year computer career, I took a wonderful class at a local museum that both carved out time for me to paint and reinforced the basic principles of creating art.
I am drawn to color and light, which I attempt to make the focal point of all my work.
I paint in a realistic style because I see beauty in the details. Sometimes it is just a well-placed tiny touch of color that can turn a good painting into a great one. Painting glass and reflective surfaces, which I love to do, allows me to recreate reflections in minute detail.
Painting still life subjects adds another layer to creativity. Finding the right arrangement and balance of objects is an art form in itself. Many of my still life pieces contain antique glass, vintage items and objects that are near and dear to me.
I also love to paint landscape scenes to capture a moment in time. Landscapes resonate with so many people. I enjoy finding and photographing a place that will become a future painting. Often, I will return to a spot when I hope the light will be better to get the contrast I am looking for in a piece.
I prefer to do all my painting in my studio surrounded by my art books and other tools of the trade. A little classic rock on the radio never hurts either.
Many of my collectors will find a piece that they are drawn to because it brings back memories, whether it be an object in a still life or a place they have been.
