My name is Vicky from Victoria Beths Art. I started making art when we moved for work, as I needed something to do to fill my spare time. I found that I super enjoyed the energy within the painting process. Along with vibrant colours, I seem to have formed a vital part of my creative process.
I like to create hidden surprises within my work such as scratches or mark-making in the underlayers. I’m hoping to leave the viewer with a desire to look harder to see how the images are formed.
Without any traditional formal art degree, I set out to discover what processes and mediums provided me the freedom to express my true inner self. I enjoy the flexibility of creating a finished product from what appears on my canvas.
The way I approach my art allows me to overcome the fear of beginning work on a large white canvas. I start with mark-making followed by colorful, chaotic and textural layers that are based in either warm or cool hues.
I continue to build on these layers until I’m able to envision shapes or forms. Sometimes I will start with a more structured outcome in mind. However, the way I approach my work remains the same. My passion is primarily modern floral closely followed by modern portraiture and landscapes.
In my art career, I have been able to connect with my peers and my collectors, giving me a wonderful insight as to how people see things. One of the biggest thrills I get is to ask someone what they like and don’t like about a piece. I love the connection and interaction, and I love that we are all different.
This connection has inspired me to hold solo exhibitions and work behind the scenes to create a combined art show. I also collaborate with an Australian hair product company designing packaging, and have been fortunate to launch my art classes as well.
I regularly volunteer at my local art gallery. This gives me even greater insight on how people see art. It’s at this grassroots level that I actually start to see though their eyes. This gives me an understanding of what moves them, and how important it is that art can make you feel a certain way.
I am enjoying my art journey and the places it takes me, along with the human connections I am making.

Victoria,
You have made really colorful bright designs with your flowers. It is interesting that you gave them names that makes them seem like someone you know personally.
