Residing in beautiful Brisbane has provided me with a world of inspiration.
I have been painting and drawing for as long as I can remember. It has always been part of my life. I completed extensive studies in painting and drawing and achieved a Diploma of Visual Arts. My creative journey began in my native country of South Africa.
After moving to Australia, I found myself painting more and more. I began participating in group exhibitions as well as exhibiting at a few galleries. My hobby became my passion.
My motivation to create works simply comes from the love of it. My paintings are created slowly and thoughtfully They engage the viewer by combining realism with a contemporary style. I create works that embrace many styles.
Having explored Africa and Australia, I am influenced by fauna, flora and the beautiful landscapes and surrounds. I find it energizing as an artist to explore and study what I paint and to get to know the subject in as much detail as possible. This is where my artistic process begins.
The process of creating brings me great personal fulfilment and joy. I work mostly in acrylics on stretched canvas. Each artwork is built up layer upon layer to draw the viewer deeper into the artwork.
My colour palette is bright and full of energy. I love mark making, and I complete my paintings with line work to add the finishing touch.
In true artistic style I also create digital artworks, using a combination of my hand-painted art and digital technology, I seamlessly combine the two to create unique pieces, which stems from my visual art background.
I have been called a master of positivity, reinvention and finding solutions to every problem. No matter the form, art is where I feel most at home.
I hold collections in New Zealand, Tasmania, England, Australia, Africa, Taiwan, Japan and United States of America.
