My fine art has been included in solo and group gallery exhibitions, commercial installations and private home collections throughout the United States and internationally. It has also appeared in books, magazines, and in multimedia worldwide including NOVA, PBS, National Geographic, Canon U.S.A., Inc., Portfolio Magazine Florida, and Blue Planet.
To appreciate my current photographic artwork, a little background information is in order.
My photography career began in the 1970’s at Florida Tech. My fascination with the ocean, marine sciences, and scuba diving increased during my time there, evolving into a passion for underwater photography. As the founder of my own scuba diving marketing company, I honed my compositional and creative photographic skills, contributing as an underwater assignment photographer for esteemed scuba industry publications.
A transformative trip to Africa in 2004 reignited my love for capturing terrestrial landscapes and nature abstracts. Immersed in the springtime floodwaters of the Okavango Delta in Botswana, I stumbled upon the enchanting realm of abstract nature photography. The clarity of water, vibrant plant life, and experimentation with in-camera techniques provided me with an opportunity to capture some of my favorite African abstracts that today still define my photographic style.
Art collectors and curators often say that my expressive and emotionally charged photographs are reminiscent of works of art by the legendary Impressionists while capturing light and its effect on the landscape with a contemporary vibrancy. Color and light, while at the forefront of my photography, is not my only conscious art play. A good portion of my nature photography is a microcosm, a photographic story that transcends geography regardless of where the collector lives.
My interest is in the natural details, how the environment on a particular day, in a particular light, and at a particular moment in time correlates to my personal vision and interpretation.
Through my lens, I aspire to ignite the passion that others cherish for nature’s wonders. Each art piece is a tribute to the splendor of our natural world, a mosaic crafted from nature’s hues, textures, and patterns.
While nature remains a focal point, I intentionally present my nature abstracts and landscapes to stand out. I want to transform photography into a medium that viewers connect with emotionally.
My goal is simple. I want the Sabo nature artwork a collector enjoys today to be just as cherished a decade from now. If that happens, I consider my job well done.
