I cannot remember a time in my life that I wasn’t drawing, whether on paper, the wall, or doodling on someone’s jeans. My favorite medium even as a child was pen and ink.

 

 

Such a bold mark it made and back then I had a multicolored pen that I could change. It had limited colors, but how awesome it was to just click on a different color when I wanted. Then as I got older and honed my skills drawing every sort of animal you could think of both real and imagined, I discovered acrylic ink. The fluidity of acrylic ink is divine.

 

 

I have tried many other mediums and still employ them in current work, but nothing beats the intense color and convenience of acrylic ink. With watercolor, one can flood the page with water and apply color at varying degrees of intensity. But, when acrylic ink dries, it stays put. Some might say this is a downside, but for me it is wonderful. I love to apply layer after layer of color until the depth I am looking for is achieved.

 

 

The whimsical nature of my art reflects the inner world that is constantly playing like a movie inside my head. I want to go there, and I do when I am painting. Inspiration for my art can come from anywhere. Mostly it comes from nature.

 

 

I imagine fairies peeking from hidden places and watching as we scurry about in our modern lives. Friends to all creatures, they ride about on their furry friends and live their lives the best they can without detection.

 

 

Like many before me, I try to imagine the lives of these creatures and record them the best I can. But my art is not always about the hidden world of fairies. Sometimes it is about myths, legends, and old gods or goddesses.

 

 

For as long as humans have sat around a fire, tales have been told and illustrated. Sometimes words just aren’t enough, but an illustration can say it all. Try getting through a science course without illustrations to clarify the subject.

 

 

Through my art, I love to tell stories. More specifically though, I love to illustrate the stories that will teleport you to fantastical realms, and even dreams. Sharing a piece of myself through these stories makes people smile, and in return, their smile makes me very happy.
