I grew up in Brooklyn, New York. At 12 years old, I moved to Harrington Park, a quaint town in northern New Jersey. As a kid I dabbled in art, and then as a teen I drew realistic portraits of some of my music idols, including Bruce Springsteen and Bob Segar.
I realized that to quell my teenage angst, art could help me focus and benefit my mental health. This, along with yoga, meditation and gymnastics made a difference in my anxiety and eventually put me on my path to a life of creativity.
In my late twenties I discovered my love of jewelry design. I designed unique soldered metal works and sold them at private jewelry shows and to upscale boutiques. All my pieces were one-of-a-kind. I also had a line of funky, whimsical jewelry, which I marketed separately. While living in Seattle in the early 2000’s, I sold my jewelry in many galleries there as well as across the United States.
Prior to moving to Seattle, I had begun playing around with basic digital art software, which I found to be both challenging and enjoyable. I could achieve results that were too difficult to render with traditional painting mediums.
I worked hard to realize an organic look, and in 2001, I was chosen as one of multiple artists as winners in a Macworld magazine digital art competition. My art was featured in a gallery at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York. It was an incredibly exciting moment in my life. Since I lived nearby, I was able to attend with my husband.
Later, I acquired an art agent, Out of the Blue Licensing, in 2018, which licensed a great deal of my art to multiple clients. The licensing industry began to change, focusing on tighter margins and less expressive art. I chose to leave in 2023 to give myself time to work on new portfolios that better expressed my inner world. With licensing, it’s all about trends. In my heart, I knew I had to move on and go it alone, at least for a time.
My latest digital portfolio incorporates collage elements such as flowers, birds, animals, butterflies, nature, text and patterns in an abstract way. I use multiple digital art programs to bring my visions to life, but never with AI. My latest portfolio showcases my connection to the beauty of nature, which has been a throughline in much of my work over the years.
There has been so much division in our society lately. My goal is to uplift others through color choice, subject and abstract flow. I hope viewers feel positive energy when connecting to my work.
