People often ask me when I knew that I wanted to be an artist. I tell them that I have always known at some level that I wanted to be a painter.

I didn’t always know how, but I always knew that creating art is what is what would bring me joy more than anything else in this world. I think that creating beautiful art is what God called me to do.

I was an art major in college but afterwards I got married and raised three wonderful children. The time restraints prevented me from doing much painting.

Later, when I had more time I started traveling all over the country taking many workshops and getting lots of painting experience. For the past 20 years I have had the opportunity to paint full time in my studio. Landscapes and wildlife are often on my easel, but lately my love of animals and birds remain my constant passion.

For the past few years I have been using pastels to create realistic portraits of dogs, cats, birds and horses. It gives me such pleasure to present a pet portrait to the owner.

There are tears of joy, especially when the pet has passed away and it is a memorial portrait.
